The wildfire hazard is LOW.

The fire ban and the quad restriction is lifted for the Lac La Biche Forest Area, with the exception of the far north portion of the area (north of Janvier).  The Fire Advisory that was in place for the west side of the area is also lifted.  Previously suspended fire permits are now valid.  New fire permits may be issued on a case by case basis and small, safe campfires are allowed.

Please continue to be diligent about preventing wildfire.  Keep campfires small and under control and clear hotspots on your quads frequently.  We've had a little rain in most areas, but not as much as you might think!  It won't take too many warm days to dry out the forest again.

We had no new fires today.  Crews continue to work on LWF 076, west of Janvier.  They are making good progress in the damp weather.

We have 10 crews, 1 helicopter, and the air tankers on hand to fight any new wildfires.  Many of our staff have been sent to Fort McMurray to help with the wildfire there.

Thanks for doing your part to prevent wildfire.

Your next update will be on Thursday, May 26 unless conditions change.
