The wildfire hazard has increased to HIGH.  Grass and other fine fuels on the ground are succeptible to wildfire under tomorrow's conditions of warm temperatures and lower humidity. Although winds should be light, any fires that start tomorrow can be expected to grow quickly in areas of dry grass.

Be very careful with campfires and when operating OHVs or ATVs.  Keep campfires small and under control.  Check your quads frequently and clear hotspots of debris like grass and muskeg that can heat up, fall to the ground and smoulder until they cause a wildfire.

We had one new wildfire today.  It grew to 14 hectares and is BEING HELD. Ground crews, helicopters with buckets and the airtankers worked this afternoon to contain this wildfire.  Crews will begin work on this fire early tomorrow morning.  This fire is on the Old Conklin Road at approximately kilometer 30.  Random campers and quadders - please avoid this area and allow our firefighters to work without having to worry about you and your safety!

So far this season we have had 38 wildfires.

We have 11 crews, 8 helicopters, the airtankers, some heavy equipment and water trucks on hand across the area tomorrow.

If you see smoke or fire in the forest, call 310-FIRE (310-3473).  Your help in preventing wildfires is appreciated.
