The wildfire hazard is MODERATE.

Although we are expecting cooler temperatures and potentially some isolated rain showers on Sunday, we expect the wildfire hazard to hold at MODERATE through the weekend and into next week.  The forecast for tomorrow is for a high of 22 degrees with humidity of 40% and winds NW20 km/hr.

This photo shows one of the lookout observer towers in the area.  Lookout Observers watch the forest for any signs of smoke or fire in the forest.  Make sure you get a permit so we know where to expect smoke!

We had no new fires again today!  Making sure your campfires are out, checking your quads for debris, checking your farm equipment for hot bearings and watching where you weld is certainly paying off.  Plus, Mother Nature has been giving us a helping hand with the higher humidity levels.

We have 8 crews, four helicopters and the airtankers on hand to fight any new wildfires.  We have three fires from earlier in the season on patrol status.  We were able to return the favor this week by exporting crews to help other areas with their wildfires.  We received help from several other jurisdictions earlier in our busy season, and this week, due to our lower hazard, we were able to export several crews from Lac La Biche to Idaho and Montana.

Thanks for doing your part to prevent wildfire.

Your next update will be on Monday, August 17 unless conditions change in the meantime.
