The wildfire hazard for the Lac La Biche area has climbed to HIGH.

The forecast for tomorrow is for a high of 23 degrees, humidity of 45, moderate lightning, no precipitation and shifting winds at S15 switching to W25 and gusting to 40 km/hr.  A cold front will be crossing the area tomorrow, which will be the cause of the gusty winds.  Moderate temperatures and moderate humidity levels are expected behind the front, and should remain in the area for the balance of the week.

We had one new fire last night, in the Bovine area.  The fire was from a lightning strike.  Crews were quick to action the fire.  This brings us to 220 fires in the area this season.  With more lightning in the forecast for tomorrow, we will be watchful for additional fires as well as holdover lightning fires in the path of today's lightning.

We have seven crews, two helicopters and the airtankers on hand to action any new wildfires.

Be careful tomorrow when working in the forest area.  Watch your quads for buildup of debris that can heat up, fall to the ground and start a wildfire.  The winds tomorrow will make fires that start hard to catch.
