Despite scattered precipitation, the wildfire hazard remains HIGH for the Lac La Biche forest area.

The forecast for the weekend is for warmer temperatures, with relatively low humidity, moderate lightning, and light winds.  There is a chance of precipitation in some areas but not all.

We didn't have any new wildfires today.  We did experience substantial lightning in parts of the area this afternoon and we will patrol these areas in the days to come, watching for holdover wildfires.

We exported several crews and other resources to the Fort McMurray Forest Area to help with new wildfires there.  If you saw the airtankers in the sky today, they also went to Fort McMurray to assist, returning later this afternoon.  We have 11 crews, 10 helicopters, the air tankers and heavy equipment including water trucks on hand to action any new wildfires in our area.

Wildfire danger this weekend will likely come from lightning fires.  If you see smoke or fire in the forest, please call 310-FIRE (3473).  The other hazard will be dry grass in the areas that have received less rain.  Watch hot spots on your quads.

Thanks for doing your part to prevent wildfire.
