The wildfire danger continues to be VERY HIGH in the Lac La Biche forest area.  The hazard is expected to remain VERY HIGH for most of this week, due to weather conditions.

The forecast for tomorrow is for a high of 19 with humidity of 25% and light winds out of the south east.

We haven't had any new wildfires so far today.  This afternoon we sent crews to assist Westlock County with a grass fire in the Clyde area.  So far this season we've had 55 wildfires.

The photo below shows the lighting tree that was the source of the wildfire discovered yesterday in the Spencer Lake area.  Lightning crossed the area on Wednesday.  The charge from lightning can remain in the ground for three days, emerging as a wildfire under the right conditions.  The warm and dry day with the light winds, was just right on Saturday.  The air tankers contained the fire yesterday, and a ground crew worked hard yesterday afternoon and again this morning, to get that fire out.  The fire was spotted by our Lookout Tower Observer!

We have 11 crews, the air tankers, five helicopters, and seven water trucks ready to action any new wildfires tomorrow.

Thanks for doing your part to prevent wildfire.
