Lac La Biche Area Update

Wildfire Hazard Climbs to VERY HIGH - Lac La Biche Forest Area

Posted on Mon, Aug 28, 2017

The warm and drying weather today helped push the wildfire hazard to VERY HIGH.

Warm weather and dry conditions for the next couple of days are likely to keep the wildfire hazard at HIGH to VERY HIGH.

We have six crews and four helicopters on hand to fight any new wildfires.

It may be repetitive, but it bears repeating that this is the time of year when we start to build a fall grass hazard. It's the reverse of the spring grass hazard when we have a wildfire hazard until the dry grass greens up.  In the fall we have a grass hazard as the green grass dries out and turns brown.  Be careful in areas of grass that are starting to dry out - like ditches, meadows, along cut lines, and other open areas.  Watch your quads if you're in these areas - stop often and clear grass from hotspots.

Thanks for doing your part to prevent wildfire.
