The wildfire hazard has climbed to VERY HIGH.

The forecast for tomorrow is for a high of 21 C, humidity at 30%, chance of showers, moderate chance of lightning and winds E25 gusting to 40 km/hr.  The winds are driving the wildfire hazard up over the course of the week.

The potential for wildfires is greatest in areas of cured grass.  The winds tomorrow will spread any fires that start very quickly, making them hard for crews to catch and contain.

Be mindful when operating quads or OHVs in dry grass areas.  Stop frequently, clear machines of debris. Stomp or soak the debris to make sure it's not smouldering.

Remember that you need a permit for any burning other than a campfire.  Follow the conditions listed on your permit.  No burning when winds exceed 15 km/hr.  The winds over the next few days are going to prevent any burning.

We had no new wildfires today!  We have 19 crews, 9 helicopters, airtankers and heavy equipment ready to action any new wildfires.

Thanks for doing your part to prevent wildfire.
