The wildfire hazard is HIGH for Monday.

The forecast for tomorrow is for a high of 22 degrees, humidity of 40%, no precipitation, moderate chance of lightning and strong winds at SE 20 gusting to 35 km/hr.  Winds will dry out the forest tomorrow, cancelling the benefit of the rain we received late last week.  The risk for tomorrow is associated with lighting that is not embedded in rain showers.  Lightning strikes can pop up as wildfires for up to three days!  We will patrol areas that receive lightning tomorrow, watching for smoke and fire.

Remember that you need a permit for any burning, other than a campfire.  Permits help us know where to expect smoke or fire in the forest.

We didn't have any new wildfires today.  So far this season we've had 50 wildfires.

We have 12 crews, 3 helicopters and the air tankers on hand to action any new wildfires.

Thanks for doing your part to prevent wildfire.
