The wildfire danger in the Lac La Biche Forest Area is VERY HIGH. The fire ban and quad restriction have been lifted for the Lac La Biche Forest Area. For changes to the Fire Ban and OHV Restriction in the rest of the Forest Protection Area, please visit albertafirebans.ca. Fire permits are reinstated. Be sure to follow the conditions on the back of your permits. No burning with winds greater than 15 km/hr. Current Situation There are currently 2 active wildfires in the Lac La Biche Area. LWF123 is Out of Control and LWF122 is Being Held at 0.25 hectares. Wildfire LWF123 is currently burning out of control and is located 35 km northwest of Janvier. The wildfire is estimated at 600 hectares and is presently moving towards the west. Six helicopters, 16 firefighters and four pieces of heavy equipment are working on the fire. So far this season we've had 125 wildfires in the area. We have crews, helicopters, and the airtankers on hand to fight wildfires. The Provincial Situation
It's lightning season! With the very dry ground conditions, and the absence of substantial rain, Mother Nature has the potential to cause some wildfires due to lightning.
