The wildfire danger for May 8 is EXTREME. The risk tomorrow is largely due to the wind. Any fires that start will spread quickly and be difficult to contain. Be very careful in the forest tomorrow - watch your quads and OHVs for build up in hotspots.
The forecast for tomorrow is for a high of 19 degrees, humidity of 25%, and strong winds shifting from the SW to NW 30 km/hr gusting to 45 km/hr. No burning when winds exceed 15 km/hr.
Effective immediately, there is a fire advisory in effect for the Lac La Biche forest area.
Due to a cured grass fire hazard, and dry and windy conditions, we have issued a Fire Advisory. We are not issuing fire permits for any non-essential burning at this time. Previous burn sites should be checked to make sure they are extinguished.
Small, safe campfires are allowed. Caution should be exercised with any fires tomorrow
We had one new wildfire today, for a total of 57 wildfires so far this season.
We have 17 crews, the airtankers, ten helicopters, two heavy equipment groups, and ten water trucks on hand to fight wildfires in the area tomorrow.
Thanks for doing your part to prevent wildfire.
