The wildfire danger is hovering at HIGH - not enough precipitation to decrease the danger and not enough wind to increase the danger!
The forecast for tomorrow is for a very good drying day. With temperatures in the low twenties, humidity around 25%, and light winds, the forest will continue to dry out. We expect the hazard to climb on Sunday and into Monday as winds pick up, temperatures stay warm and humidity dips.
Be careful this weekend if you're operating quads or OHVs in grassy areas.
With lighter winds tomorrow, it's possible to burn if you have a permit. Conditions for a safe burn are outlined on the back of your permit. Don't burn during the heat of the day, or if winds are greater than 15 km/hr. Please don't leave a fire unattended!
The photo below shows how easily grass is burning at this time of year.
We had one new wildfire last night, bringing our total to 51 wildfires in the area this season.
We have nine crews, the airtankers, three helicopters, and seven water trucks on hand to action any new fires.
Thanks for doing your part to prevent wildfire.
