The wildfire danger is LOW for the Lac La Biche forest area.
The rain that's been promised for so long has finally reached most of the forest area, successfully dropping our wildfire danger to LOW. The forecast is for continued cooler weather with damp conditions for the next couple of days.
Wildfire Situation Update 10:00 am June 11
There are currently four active wildfires in the Lac La Biche Forest Area. All wildfires are under control.
Rock Island Lake Complex (LWF-099 and LWF-119).
Both of these wildfires are 100% contained, which means fire within 100 feet of the perimeter has been extinguished. Crews continue to mop up these fires, patrolling for elusive smoke and smouldering spots and edging further into the fire area.
To all of our crews - thanks for the hard work! You might not know this but most of our crews sleep at the fire camp in tents each night. After a long hard day on the fire, they crawl into a sleeping bag in a tent! With the rain the past few days, it makes conditions more uncomfortable. Fighting wildfire is not for the faint of heart. Thanks crews - you are appreciated!!
In addition to the firefighters on the above wildfires, we have 8 crews and 3 helicopters ready to action any new wildfires tomorrow.
Unless conditions change, your next wildfire update will be on Thursday, June 14, 2018.
Thanks for doing your part to prevent wildfire.
