The wildfire danger is MODERATE for the Lac La Biche forest area.

The forecast for the weekend is for warm temperatures on Saturday, cooler on Sunday, moderate humidity levels, high chance of lightning on Saturday with a chance of showers later in the day and gusty winds.

We had one new wildfire today.  There are three wildfires in the area from earlier in June and they are all on patrol status.

So far this season we've had 172 wildfires.

In addition to crews working on the existing wildfires, we have 8 crews, 2 helicopters, and the airtankers ready to fight any new wildfires tomorrow.

If you're planning a campfire this weekend, please remember that a campfire left smoldering can cause a wildfire. Never leave your campfire unattended and make sure it's out before you leave it. Soak it with water, stir the ashes and soak it again. A campfire is out when the ashes are cool to the touch.

Safe campfire
