The wildfire danger is HIGH for the Lac La Biche forest area.

Warm temperatures and winds were quick to increase the wildfire danger from the low levels we've been experiencing over the past several days.  The forecast for tomorrow is for a high of 29 degrees with humidity at 35%, high chance of lightning and winds at SW10 km/hr.  We expect the danger level to decrease over the weekend with the forecast for rain and cooler temperatures.

We didn't have any new wildfires today.  There are three wildfires in the area from earlier in June and they are all on patrol status.

So far this season we've had 171 wildfires.

In addition to crews working on the existing wildfires, we have 9 crews, 2 helicopters, and the airtankers ready to fight any new wildfires tomorrow.

If you're planning a campfire this weekend, please remember that a campfire left smoldering can cause a wildfire. Never leave your campfire unattended and make sure it's out before you leave it. Soak it with water, stir the ashes and soak it again. A campfire is out when the ashes are cool to the touch.

Safe campfire
