Thanks to the rain, the wildfire danger is LOW for the Lac La Biche forest area.

We didn't have any new wildfires today.  There are eight wildfires in the area and they are all under control.  Crews are patrolling fires from earlier in the season and are actively working on hotspots and flareups on the most recent wildfires.

So far this season we've had 169 wildfires.

In addition to crews working on the existing wildfires, we have 4 crews, 1 helicopter, and the airtankers ready to fight any new wildfires tomorrow.

The photo below is from a few days ago and shows a tree that was hit by lighting and splintered, resulting in a wildfire.  A quick responding wildfire ranger extinguished this fire before it got very big.  Nice work!
