The wildfire danger is MODERATE for the Lac La Biche forest area for June 27. There are pockets of low wildfire danger along the Saskatchewan border as well as a pocket of high wildfire danger along the southwest side of the area - refer to the map below to see what area you are in.

Tomorrow's forecast is for a high of 19 degrees, humidity of 45%, with winds at SW 25 gusting to 40 km/hr and a low chance of lightning. We will be working on existing wildfires and be on the lookout for wildfires emerging from the lightning yesterday in areas that didn't receive significant precipitation.

We didn't have any new wildfires today.  All wildfires in the area are either under control or being held and did not experience any growth today.  We extinguished three wildfires today.  Crews are patrolling fires from earlier in the season and are actively working on hotspots and flareups on the fires that are under control. Numerous crews and helicopters with buckets worked on the two fires that are being held. Some of the wildfires received precipitation today.

So far this season we've had 169 wildfires. There are 9 active fires in the area - 7 are under control, and two are being held.

In addition to crews working on the existing wildfires, we have 4 crews, 1 helicopter, and the airtankers ready to fight any new wildfires tomorrow.

If you see smoke or fire in the forest, please call 310-FIRE.

Thanks for doing your part to prevent wildfire.
