The wildfire hazard is VERY HIGH for the Lac La Biche forest area.  We expect conditions to change in the next few days if we get the cooler temperatures and precipitation that is in the forecast.

In the meantime, please be very careful in the forest.  Grass is drying and there is the threat from OHV fires as well as from abandoned campfires.  Never leave a campfire unattended.  Always make sure you soak it, stir the ashes and soak it again before you leave your campfire.

Parts of southern Alberta are under a forest closure and other parts are under fire advisory.  Check albertafirebans.ca for up to date information about where you can and cannot have campfires.

Hunters - if you're planning to head to southern Alberta this weekend, be advised that parts of southern Alberta are under a forest closure, which means the forest protection area is accessible only to residents and emergency workers.  Check before you go to save yourself the trip and the disappointment.

We have 7 crews and 6 helicopters on hand to action any new wildfires tomorrow.

Thanks for doing your part to prevent wildfire.
