The wildfire hazard continues to be VERY HIGH for the Lac La Biche Forest Area.

With little change in the weather forecast, we expect conditions to remain VERY HIGH.  If you are working or recreating in the forest area this long weekend, please be mindful of the extremely dry conditions.

Keep campfires small and under control.  Never leave a campfire unattended.  Completely extinguish campfires before you leave them - don't assume they will go out on their own.  It's more likely that they will smoulder until a wind whips them back to life.  Soak your campfire, stir the ashes and soak it again.

Watch hotspots on quads and OHVs.  Stop frequently and clear debris from hotspots.  Debris like dry grass and muskeg can heat up, fall to the ground and start a wildfire along your path.

Thanks for doing your part to prevent wildfire this long weekend.  If you're headed out beyond the Lac La Biche forest area, be sure to check albertafirebans.ca for up to date information on fire bans and quad restrictions in parts of Alberta.

You next update will be issued on Tuesday, September 5 unless conditions change in the meantime.
