The wildfire hazard has climbed to VERY HIGH for tomorrow.

High temperatures, high humidity and generally unstable conditions are resulting in thunderstorms with lightning, triggering VERY HIGH wildfire danger.

We had one new wildfire today, which has been extinguished.

Crews continue to work on LWF 097 which started yesterday.  This fire is BEING HELD at 23.5 hectares.  The air tankers worked on this fire early this morning in combination with ground crews and helicopters bucketing.  Work will continue until dark this evening.  The fire did not grow in size today.

We have 13 crews, the air tankers, 10 helicopters and three dozer units on hand to fight any new wildfires tomorrow.

Please do your part to prevent wildfire.  As we're approaching the long weekend, remember to keep your campfires small and under control.  If you're quadding, remember to stop frequently and clear debris like grass and muskeg from your machines that can heat up and fall to the ground causing a wildfire along your path.

Thanks for helping keep Alberta green!
