The wildfire hazard for tomorrow is VERY HIGH.

The forecast is for a high of 25 C, with humidity of 35%, chance of rain and thundershowers with lightning, and light winds at 15 km/hr.  More showers are expected on Friday.  The threat for the next couple of days is from lightning fires.  If we receive lighting without much precipitation, the chances are good that some wildfires may start.  The more rain that accompanies the lightning, the less chance of wildfires.  Lightning strikes can stay active for up to three days, so we patrol areas that received lightning carefully for several days following a storm.

You can help us by doing your part to prevent human caused wildfires. Here's the top three things you can do:  don't burn without a permit, put your campfires out, and keep your quads clean.

We had one new wildfire today - grass burning in a ditch.  Even though the grass might look green, there is still a lot of dry undergrowth that is flammable.  So far this season we've had 49 wildfires.

We have 14 crews, 14 helicopters, the air tankers, and heavy equipment and water trucks on hand across the area to fight any wildfires tomorrow.

Thanks for doing your part to prevent wildfire.
