The wildfire hazard for tomorrow is VERY HIGH.

The forecast for tomorrow is for a high of 27 with 40% humidity and light winds.  The lighting potential is high.  There is a slow moving cold front headed our way, which means increased winds ahead of the front and potential afternoon showers on Tuesday with a greater possibility of showers on Wednesday night.  In the meantime, the wildfire hazard remains VERY HIGH.

We have 11 crews, four helicopters and the air tankers on hand to fight any new wildfires.  We had one new fire yesterday which has been extinguished.  So far this season we've had 101 wildfires.

The photo below shows one of the four Air Tractors participating in an air tanker demonstration on Long Lake on Saturday as part of Parks Day.  The spectators on the beach and at the part got an up close and personal view of the air tankers that we use to fight wildfire.

Thanks for doing your part to prevent wildfire.  Remember that you need a permit for any burning other than a campfire.  Permits are free and can be arranged by calling your local Agriculture and Forestry Office.  If you burn without a permit, it's likely we will spot the smoke and send crews to put out your fire.  You can avoid this by getting a permit and letting us know where and when to expect smoke in the forest!
