The wildfire hazard is VERY HIGH for the Lac La Biche forest area. The FIRE BAN and QUAD BAN remain in effect.
The forecast is for a high of 13 degrees tomorrow, with humidity of 30% and winds NE25 gusting to 40 km/hr. We had a bit of a break today, as winds were calmer than we've seen for a few days, however they will be picking up again. The dry conditions - no precipitation in the forecast for this area for the next several days - and the winds, are keeping the wildfire danger rating at VERY HIGH.
Here are a few firefighters working hard to protect Alberta's forest area.
We had no new fires in the area today, and there were no new fires in the east side of the Fort Mc Murray area. There are currently 2 fires in the Lac La Biche area, and they are both under control. We've had 74 wildfires so far this season.
We have 29 crews, 28 helicopters, airtankers, and heavy equipment ready to action any new wildfires. The crew members below were working on the Fort McMurray fire earlier today.
Although the perimeter of the Fort Mc Murray fire saw little change today, the winds were pushing the smoke south towards Janvier and Conklin. Be aware that the smoke conditions will likely be worse tomorrow with the northeast winds. Thanks for respecting the fireban and quad ban and doing your part to prevent wildfire.
