Despite the cooler temperatures, the wildfire hazard remains VERY HIGH.  The QUAD BAN and FIRE BAN are still in effect.

The forecast for tomorrow is for a high of 12 degrees and humidity should climb to 40%.  There is no precipitation in the forecast for the next several days.  Winds tomorrow are predicted to be switching between N20 and NE20 km/hr (winds near the fire area are predicted to be NE20 km/hr).  The winds will continue to dry out the forest area even under these cooler temperatures.

North wind could bring smoke to the area tomorrow.  For health concerns contact Alberta Health at 310-LINK.

There are no evacuation orders in place for the area today.  There was a false alarm for evacuation for the Janvier area issued by the RM of Wood Buffalo. For evacuation information, in the Janvier and Conklin areas, contact 310-4455.

We had no new fires in the area today.  There are four fires in the area and they are all under control.  So far this season we've had 74 wildfires.  We have 30 crews, 28 helicopters, the airtankers, five dozer units and other heavy equipment in place across the area, ready to attack any new fires.

We had no new fires in the Fort Mc Murray east district today.  The Fort Mc Murray city fire and the fire burning east of the city were active on the north east and south east sections today. About 700 firefighters, 20 helicopters and 15 airtankers, as well as substantial heavy equipment worked on the fire today.

Thanks for doing your part to prevent wildfire.  Avoiding quad use helps decrease the chances of new fires starting in the forest area.  Thanks for your patience with this.
