The wildfire hazard for the Lac La Biche Forest Area is HIGH.

The forecast for tomorrow is for a high of 17 degrees, humidity of 35% and winds SW15 km/hr. Looking ahead, we are anticipating warmer temperatures and lower humidity, with light winds for the next several days.  There is no precipitation expected.  This means the forest will continue to dry out and the hazard will increase accordingly.

The FIRE ADVISORY remains in place.  Be cautious with any fires.  Follow the conditions on your fire permits and remember there is no burning when winds exceed 12 km/hr.  Keep your campfires small and make sure they are completely extinguished before you leave them. Visit albertafirebans.ca for information on fire bans and restrictions in other areas of the province.

We had two new wildfires today.  There are currently three wildfires in the area.  Two are under control and one has been turned over to the landowner to extinguish.

We have ten crews, five helicopters, dozers, water trucks and other heavy equipment on hand across the area to fight wildfires tomorrow.  We expect some airtankers to be based in Lac La Biche tomorrow because of the high hazard in the northeast portion of the province.

Enjoy the weekend and thanks for doing your part to prevent wildfire.  Remember, you can stay up to date by downloading the free albertawildfire app or by visiting wildfire.alberta.ca and clicking on the status map or update.
