Despite some isolated showers, most of the Lac La Biche forest area remains dry, with a HIGH wildfire danger for tomorrow and likely throughout the week.

The forecast for Wednesday is for a high of 15 degrees with humidity of 35%, a chance of isolated showers, and winds SW20 gusting to 35 km/hr.

The biggest threat at this time of year is from grass fires.  Dry, standing grass from last year is very flammable at this time of year, before it turns green.  Be careful when operating quads or OHVs in grassy areas like meadows or along ditches or pipeline crossings.

We didn't have any new wildfires today, bringing us to a total of 47 wildfires this season.  We have three active fires in the area - two are small and under control and one has been turned over to the land owner to extinguish.

We have 9 crews, the airtankers, 4 helicopters and 7 water trucks on hand across the area to action any new wildfires.

Thanks for doing your part to prevent wildfire.
