The wildfire hazard is LOW for tomorrow.  A cold front crossing the area is promising to drop temperatures to the low 20s, increase humidity, and maybe bring us some rain.  The lighting potential is high however the humidity levels and accompanying rain could prevent the strikes from starting wildfires.

We didn't have any new wildfires today.  So far this season we've had 101 wildfires in the area.

We have 11 crews, five helicopters and the air tankers on hand to fight any new wildfires.

The photo below shows one of our crews helping out at Parks Day on the weekend.  Thanks to Alberta Parks for inviting us out to Long Lake Provincial Park for our air tanker demonstration.

Remember that you need a permit for any burning other than a campfire.  If you don't get a permit, and we see smoke or fire where it's not expected, you can expect us to drop in on you. Getting a fire permit helps us to understand where to expect smoke so we don't dispatch resources unnecessarily.

Thanks for doing you part to prevent wildfire.
