The wildfire hazard in the Conklin area and to the north remains HIGH.  The wildfire hazard in the balance of the Lac La Biche area is MODERATE.  The FIRE ADVISORY remains in place, which restricts any heavy burning including brush piles and windrows.  You need a permit for any burning, except a campfire.

Tomorrow's forecast is for a high of 6 with humidity of 30%, chance of precipitation, and winds NE20.  The forecast wind speed means no burning tomorrow, even if you have a permit.  Sunday's forecast is similar to Saturday, however Monday could see a drying trend, with increased temperatures and winds.

We had five grass fires today.  All fires were in the Janvier area.  These fires are either under control or extinguished.  So far this wildfire season we have had 45 fires.

We have ten crews, three helicopters and several water trucks stationed across the area.

The forest is particularly succeptible to grass fires at this time of year.  Standing grass from last year is dry and easily ignited under the right conditions.  Until the Spring rains "green-up" the grass, please do your part to prevent wildfire.  Avoid any unnecessary burning.  Follow the conditions on your fire permit by keeping your fires small and under control.  Make sure you have water and basic fire fighting tools on hand.

If you're in a quad rally this weekend - be mindful of hot debris on your machines that can fall to the ground and start a wildfire.  When you stop, clear the muffler area, the wheel wheels and other hot spots.  Stomp the grass and debris to make sure it's not smouldering.

Thanks for doing your part to prevent wildfire.
