The FIRE ADVISORY remains in place for the Lac La Biche area.  Despite snow in some parts of the province, our area is very dry.  The wildfire hazard for the southern part of the area is MODERATE, however the Conklin area is HIGH.  We are not issuing permits for any heavy burning at this time.

The forecast for tomorrow is for a high of 11 with 25% humidity, no precipitation, and winds SE10.  It will be a good drying day as the humidity is lower and the wind is steady.  Wildfire danger increases as the grass dries out.

Although the winds will be lighter tomorrow, please remain careful with any fires you have.  Permits are required for any burning (except a campfire).  Avoid unnecessary burning.  Keep any fires that you do have small and under control.

We have had 49 wildfires so far this season.  Today there were 9 grass fires.  Seven fires were in the Janvier area, one in the Beaver Lake area, and one in the Calling Lake area.  All fires are either under control or extinguished.

We have 11 crews, three helicopters and several water trucks across the area.  With all the reports of smoke in the area, it is particularly important that you get a permit.  Permits help us by letting us know where to expect smoke in the forest.  If you are burning without a permit and smoke is reported, we will immediately dispatch resources to that fire.  You really don't want us to drop in on you if you don't need us!  Help us direct our resources to the real wildfires, by getting a permit!

Thanks for doing your part to prevent wildfire.
