The wildfire hazard is LOW.

Cooler temperatures and some light precipitation have been helping our fire fighters who are working on LWF 076, west of Janvier.  The precipitation was scattered and very light in some places, so please continue to be very careful with any fires you have, now that the fire ban has been lifted.  We are watching for wildfires in area where we received lighting over the past couple of days.

Keep your campfires small and under control.  Even though we got some rain, the ground is very dry.  Yesterday we had a report of a spark from a campfire that started a flash fire in all the poplar fluff that was on the ground.  Luckily these fast-acting campers had water on hand and were able to douse the area before the fire got out of hand.  This is an example of how dry the forest floor really is, even with some rain.

We had no new wildfires today.  We are busy exporting crews to Fort McMurray to help with that fight.  In the meantime, crews and airtankers are ready to attack any new wildfires that we get in our area.

We are expecting more rain this weekend, but in the meantime, please keep doing your part to prevent wildfire!
