The wildfire hazard for the Lac La Biche forest area is LOW for the next several days.

Recent precipitation has done a very good job of soaking the forest floor, grass, leaves and twigs.  The rain, along with cooler temperatures, higher humidity levels, and light winds are forecast to influence the area for the next several days.  We expect the hazard to remain LOW.

We haven't had a new wildfire in the area for over a week.  We have had 50 wildfires in the area so far this season.  I attribute the decrease in wildfires in our area to the great caution you've all been taking when working or recreating in the forest.  Some people might give Mother Nature the credit for sending us cool and damp weather, but I prefer to think it's the residents and forest users that are being FireSmart, putting their fires out, and cleaning their quads!

We have 12 crews, 2 helicopters and the airtankers on hand to action any new wildfires. Crews are working on FireSmart projects and keeping up with their training through practices and drills.

Thanks for doing your part to prevent wildfire.
