The wildfire danger has dropped to HIGH for Monday. Cooler temperatures and higher humidity following the cold front that passed through last night, have dropped the hazard a bit.  Conditions remain dry and there is wind in the forecast meaning there is still a very real threat of grass fires that will spread quickly.

Be mindful when operating quads in grassy areas. Muskeg, grass and other debris can build up around engines and mufflers, heating up to the point of ignition.  This burning debris then drops off the machines and can start a wildfire along your path.  Stop frequently, clear debris.

We had one new wildfire today.  It has been extinguished.  There are two wildfires currently active in the area.  Our crews are working on one and the other has been turned over to the landowner to extinguish.  So far this season we've had 41 wildfires.

We have nine crews, the airtankers, 3 helicopters, and 7 water trucks ready to action any new wildfires.

Did you know that we haven't had any lightning yet this season?  Lightning season isn't usually until later in the summer.  That means that all the fires we've had so far this year have been human caused.

Thanks for doing your part to prevent wildfire.
