Rain and wind earlier in the week did a fine job of melting the snow and drying the grass, driving our wildfire hazard to MODERATE levels overall.  There is still some snow in the bush, and water lying around, but the grass is very dry and burning well in some areas.  Exercise caution in dry grass.

We expect the weather to continue to get warmer and drier this week.  Coupled with winds in the forecast and decreasing humidity, we expect the grass wildfire hazard to continue to increase. Be mindful if operating quads in grassy areas.

We've had 12 wildfires so far in the past two days.  All fires are under control or have been extinguished.  Most fires are in the Janvier area. Visit wildfire.alberta.ca for information on the fires and for specific locations.

We have seven crews and one helicopter in the forest area.  We are conducting hazard reduction burns in the Janvier and Beaver Lake areas.

If you see smoke or fire in the forest, please call 310-FIRE.
