The wildfire hazard is HIGH for the Lac La Biche forest area.
A couple of very warm and breezy days on the weekend helped dry out the forest area, raising the wildfire hazard to HIGH. The forecast for the next couple of days shows more warm, dry weather and a chance of isolated thundershowers and lightning.
We have three crews and two helicopters on hand to action any new wildfires.
It's important that you remain diligent about extinguishing campfires and cleaning hotspots on your quads. As fall approaches, and grass in ditches and meadows starts to dry out, the chances for wildfires increase. Thanks for doing your part to prevent wildfire by paying attention to these things.
