The wildfire hazard is HIGH for the Lac La Biche area.

The forecast for tomorrow is for a high of 25 degrees, 35% humidity, and winds at S15 km/hr.  Chance of lightning but little precipitation.  This weather pattern should continue through the weekend.  Sustained warm temperatures with light winds mean the forest will continue to dry out.  The rain we received earlier in the week was a help for the existing fires, but wasn't widespread enough or heavy enough to make a real dent in the wildfire hazard.

Your continued diligence when working and playing in the forest is appreciated.

We had no new fires today.  The ten fires in the area are all under control and most are on patrol status. As a matter of fact, all the wildfires in the Province are either under control or being held.

If you are in the Lac La Biche area tomorrow, watch for us in the Pow Wow Days parade.  Bertie Beaver will be on hand, as well as a float comemmorating the 50th Anniversary of the Junior Forest Ranger program.  Our float is a giant two layer cake - made entirely of trees!  Hope to see you there.

Immediately following the parade there will be a demonstration by the air tankers on the lake shore. This is a great opportunity to get a close view of tanker drops.  As part of this event, the air tanker group will be flying a "Missing Man" formation in tribute to the airtanker pilot who lost his life earlier in the wildfire season.  Watch for this very special demonstration on the lake, in front of the Legion, starting at about 12:30.

Thanks for doing your part to prevent wildfire.
