Scattered precipitation in some areas has dropped the wildfire hazard to HIGH.

Continuing warm temperatures, higher humidity, moderate winds, increased lightning potential and generally unsettled weather is contributing to a HIGH wildfire hazard in the area for the next day or so. Intense thunderstorms are all around us, but the majority of our area hasn't seen any significant precipitation.

We didn't have any new wildfires today.  Crews continue to work on LWF 097 from a few days ago.  The fire is Being Held at 22 hectares.  The photo below shows the fire earlier today. If you look closely you can see the air tanker.  The white areas show where the tanker had recently dropped on areas of the fire that were still active.

We have 13 crews, eight helicopters, the air tankers and three dozer units on hand to fight any new wildfires in the area.

Enjoy the long weekend.  Please take the time to fully extinguish your campfires before you leave them.  Soak it, stir the ashes, soak it again to make sure your campfire won't come back to life when the wind stirs it up.
