Despite cooler temperatures, the wildfire hazard for the Lac La Biche area remains HIGH.  The Fire Advisory is still in place.  We are NOT ISSUING PERMITS and existing permits are suspended No Burning This Weekend because the winds are forecast to be stronger than 15 km/hr.  Surface fuels remain dry and volatile.

The forecast for tomorrow is for a high of 13 with humidity of 30%, no precipitation, and winds SW15.  The forecast for the weekend is continuing unstable, with cool temperatures and wind.

We had three new wildfires today.  These fires, all in the Janvier area, are either extinguished or have been turned over to the land owner to extinguish.  So far this season we have had 82 wildfires.

We have 18 crews, 10 helicopters, multiple water trucks and several cat units positioned across the area.

Although its cooler out, the wind continues and we are not receiving any precipitation.  These conditions are keeping the wildfire hazard at HIGH.  Thank you for your diligence this week in avoiding any unnecessary burning, and honoring your suspended permits.

Watch your quads and OHVs if you are out in the forest this weekend.  Clean you machines frequently to keep debris from collecting in the hot spots.  Grass and muskeg can build up, dry out, smoulder and fall to the ground, igniting a wildfire along your path.  If you see smoke or fire in the forest, please call 310-FIRE.

Thanks for doing your part to prevent wildfire.
