The wildfire hazard for tomorrow is MODERATE.

The forecast for tomorrow is for a high of 20 degrees, humidity of 40%, chance of precipitation on the west side of the area, and winds SE10.  The higher humidity and scattered showers around the area helped reduce the wildfire hazard to MODERATE.

We've had some light and patchy precipitation over the area, but not enough to change the conditions on the east side of our area.  The FIRE BAN remains in effect for the Lac La Biche forest area east of the Athabasca River/north of the Town of Athabasca.  This means no open fires of any kind.  The quad restriction is still in effect for this area as well.  Propane bar-b-ques and propane fire pits are allowed.  All fire permits remain suspended until conditions change.

Because some areas on the west side of the area received precipitation, the Fire Ban there has been lifted.  A FIRE ADVISORY is in place for the Lac La Biche forest area west of the Athabasca River/north of the Town of Athabasca.  This means you can have safe campfires.  Previously suspended permits are now active however we are not issuing any new permits.  The quad restriction has also been lifted for this area.

We had no new wildfires today.

LWF 076, west of Janvier, remains out of control at 146 hectares.  A dozer guard was completed around the fire today, and air support was effective throughout the day.  East winds pushed smoke away from Highway 881 and from Janvier.  We expect minimal spread of the fire tomorrow based on the weather forecast and the resources we have planned to work on the fire. There are 53 fire fighters, seven helicopters, the air tankers and various heavy equipment groups working on this wildfire.

We have 13 crews, 12 helicopters, air tankers, three dozer groups, four water trucks and other pieces of heavy equipment ready to attack any new wildfires in the area tomorrow.

Thanks for doing your part to prevent wildfire.
