GFX-HSB-WildfireDangerUpdate-Low

The wildfire hazard for tomorrow is LOW.

The severe weather advisory was lifted today at noon.  Mother Nature cooperated today by dropping the temperature and giving us a break from lightning.  The forecast for tomorrow is for a high of 22 degrees, humidity of 30%, winds NW15 and low lightning.  We are expecting a stable day tomorrow, but no precipitation.

We had NO new wildfires today!  Existing fires saw minimal growth today.

Here's a recap of out of control fires in the area:

LWF 192 and LWF 175 held their own today.  LWF 192 saw minimal growth.  LWF 175 grew by about 200 hectares on the Saskatchewan side.

LWF 191 saw minimal growth today.  This fire is in the Bovine area.

LWF 189 remains out of control at about 100 hectares. This fire is in the Bovine area.

LWF 161 remains out of control at 15,000 hectares.  This fire was active all day on the east side, pushed by the northwest winds.

Tomorrow should be a good recovery day for the fires.  We hope to continue working on the west and southwest flanks of existing fires, as it is safe to do so tomorrow.  Smoke will continue to be an issue in most areas. Northwest winds are expected to push smoke from the fires in the Northwest Territories, in the High Level area, and in our area, towards communities.

Your next update will be on Monday, unless conditions change.

Thanks for doing your part to prevent wildfire.
