Lac La Biche Area Update

The wildfire danger rating in the Lac La Biche Forest Area is MODERATE due to cooler temperatures. Dry grass continues to be a hazard in the area.

WILDFIRE UPDATE

There is currently one wildfire in the Lac La Biche Forest Area, burning a total of 0.1 hectares (ha). This wildfire is under control. 

Since March 1st, there have been 28 wildfires in the Lac La Biche Forest Area, burning a total of 8.04 ha.  

PROVINCIAL WILDFIRE UPDATE

There are currently seven wildfires in the Forest Protection Area of Alberta. Four are under control and three have been turned over to the responsible party.

Since March 1 in the Forest Protection Area, there have been 128 wildfires, burning a total of 117.21 ha.

FIRE ADVISORY IN EFFECT

A fire advisory is in effect for the Lac La Biche Forest Area section of the Forest Protection Area due to a dry grass fire hazard.

Under this advisory:

• No new fire permits will be issued for non-essential heavy burning (windrows, machine piled brush piles, etc…) until the advisory is lifted. All other permits will be evaluated on a case-by-case basis. Previous burning sites should be checked for extinguishment. Caution should be exercised during windy conditions.

• Small, safe cooking and warming (campfires) are allowed.

Never leave a campfire unattended. Soak it, stir it and soak it again until cool to the touch to ensure it is extinguished. If you see a wildfire, report it immediately by calling 310-FIRE.

The fire advisory will remain in effect until conditions improve.
