The wildfire danger rating is MODERATE. The biggest hazard is in dry, standing grass. Fortunately we don't have any strong winds in the immediate forecast.
Due to the dry grass conditions and the snow line moving north, we are not issuing any permits for non-essential heavy burning at this time.
We have had seven wildfires in the area so far this season. LWF 007, at .1 ha and located near Janvier, is the only active fire currently.
We have four crews, three engines and one water truck ready to fight wildfires in our area. We have also had crews out burning dry grass to help protect communities from the risk of spring wildfires.
