The wildfire hazard for tomorrow is EXTREME.

The forecast is for a high of 22 degress, 30% humidity, winds NE 25 km/hr and a low to moderate chance of precipitation and lightning.  A band of rain is expected to stretch across the province from the west to the east, however it's likely to only reach the southern part of our forest area.  Areas to the north are expected to remain warm, dry, and volatile in the winds tomorrow afternoon.

Remember that you should never burn when winds exceed 15 km/hr.  So watch the wind speeds tomorrow.  Get a permit for any burning other than a campfire and follow the conditions on the back of the permit.

Be mindful if operating quads in dry grassy areas tomorrow.  Stop often, clear hot spots of debris.  Stomp on the debris or soak it, to make sure it doesn't smoulder and cause a wildfire.  Take the same path out of the forest that you took going in and look for smoke or smouldering grass along the way.

We didn't have any new wildfires today. So far this season we've had 50 wildfires.

We have 16 crews, 9 helicopters, the air tankers, 3 dozer units and other resources on hand to action any wildfires tomorrow.

Thanks for doing your part to prevent wildfire.  If you see smoke or fire in the forest please call 310-FIRE (3473).
