The wildfire hazard is EXTREME for tomorrow.  The FIRE BAN and QUAD RESTRICTION remain in effect.

Tomorrow is going to be another very risky day for wildfire in the Lac La Biche Forest Area.  The forecast is for a high of 24 degrees with humidity of 25% and winds W15 km/hr.  There is a very slight chance of light precipitation in the extreme south of the area.  There is potential for lighting tomorrow and we are getting lighting now in the northeast part of the area.

We had no new fires in the area today.  Our crews are patrolling the areas receiving lightning today and we will continue to monitor these spots for holdover wildfires which could emerge tomorrow when the conditions are right (hot, dry and windy).

We have 23 crews, 17 helicopters, airtankers, five dozer units, water trucks and other heavy equipment across the area, ready to attack any new wildfires.

A fire ban is in effect for portions of northern and central Alberta. The fire ban applies to Alberta’s Forest Protection Area in northern and central Alberta and all counties, municipal districts and special areas, as well as provincial parks and recreation areas. The fire ban does not apply to cities, towns, villages, summer villages, or federal lands, such as national parks. NOTE: A county or municipal district may decide to add additional restrictions – please check with your local area.  Visit albertafirebans.ca for more details.  All open fires are prohibited.

Recreational use of off-highway vehicles (OHV) is restricted on all public lands and provincial parks within portions of northern and central Alberta, including designated OHV trails. This includes the Lac La Biche Forest Area. The restriction does not apply to agriculture, public safety, commercial/industrial or Indigenous peoples when exercising a right recognized and affirmed under Part II of the Constitution Act, 1982 or a right under section 12 of the Natural Resources Transfer Agreement. The restriction will remain in effect until further notice.  We encourage everyone to leave your quads parked until conditions improve.

Thanks for doing your part to prevent wildfire.
