The wildfire danger continues to be EXTREME in the Lac La Biche forest area.  We are expecting lightning and NO rain in the area tomorrow afternoon, heightening the chances of new wildfire starts.  Fires that start tomorrow will grow very quickly and could be difficult to control.

The forecast for tomorrow is for a high of 26, with low humidity at 20%, lightning, no rain, and W 15 km/hr winds that expected to pick up later in the day.  The FIRE ADVISORY remains in place.

If you're camping this weekend, please ensure your campfires are out before you leave them.  Don't assume they'll go out on their own.  Soak it, stir the ashes, soak it again.  Winds expected tomorrow afternoon after the lightning can stir up campfires that aren't out, spreading embers and causing all kinds of grief!  Do your part to prevent wildfire - put your campfires out!

We had one new wildfire today.  Both airtanker groups, plus a crew with a helicopter, were quick to action this fire and keep it from spreading. The fire was north east of Marie Lake.  We have 19 crews, 16 helicopters, two air tanker groups, three dozer groups, and 7 water trucks ready to fight any new wildfires tomorrow.

The photo below shows campers at Christina Lake Campground talking with Mike and his helitac crew.  The crew helped campers understand how we fight wildfire and reminded them of the danger from quads operating in dry grass. Thanks for dropping in!
