The wildfire danger is EXTREME.  Hot, dry, windy conditions are keeping the danger level at EXTREME.  We expect this to continue until we receive rain. Current conditions mean any new wildfires that start tomorrow and Monday will be difficult to control, and will likely spread very quickly.

The FIRE ADVISORY remains in effect.  No burning other than a campfire.  Be very careful with quads.  No fireworks.  Permits are suspended and we're not issuing any new permits.

The forecast is for continued warm, dry and windy conditions for the next several days.  We are expecting lightning on Monday that is not going to be accompanied by rain.  This increases the potential for multiple wildfire starts on Monday.

Exercise caution this weekend in the forest.  Keep campfires small and under control.  Ensure they are extinguished before you leave them.  This is particularly important given the windy conditions. Be very careful if operating quads or off highway vehicles in grassy areas this weekend.

We had one new wildfire so far today. It has been extinguished.  So far this season we've had 94 wildfires.

We have 17 crews, two airtanker groups, 16 helicopters, 3 dozer groups and 7 water trucks ready to fight wildfire tomorrow.

Fitness is a huge part of the job of a firefighter.  All firefighters need to meet certain physical criteria.  Although going to the gym and working out is common, firefighters manage to exercise even when they are on 5 minute getaway.  Here is one of our crew members stationed in Janvier today, doing squats with a drum!  Way to go Dean!!
