The wildfire hazard is EXTREME today.  There is a FIRE WEATHER ADVISORY in effect for the area.

A cold front will be crossing Alberta today.  We can expect strong and gusty winds ahead of the front as well as behind the front.  Today's winds are forecast to be S25 gusting to 40 km/hr. Combined with the heat, low himidity and lack of precipitation, this means we can expect extreme fire behavior today.  Any fires that start will spread very quickly and be difficult to contain.

Take extra precaution in the forest area today and tomorrow.  Respect the quad restriction and remember, no open fires of any kind.

We have 20 crews, 18 helicopters, airtankers, and multiple pieces of heavy equipment including dozers and water trucks on hand across the area to fight any new wildfires.  We have had 75 wildfires so far this fire season.  There are no active fires in the area at this time.

Thanks for doing your part to prevent wildfire.
