The wildfire hazard is MODERATE.  Increasing temperatures, lower humidity levels and light winds are driving the wildfire hazard up across the Lac La Biche forest area.  The forecast is for continuing warmer weather, lower relative humidity and stronger winds through to Saturday.

At this time of year, the potential for wildfires is greatest in areas of cured grass.  Be mindful when riding quads or off-highway vehicles in dry grass areas.  The winds mean that any grass fires that start, will travel quickly.

310-FIRE-knocked-out - white and black.jpgIf you see smoke or fire in the forest, call it in.  Your quick action means we can get crews dispatched quickly. Thanks for your help.

So far this season we've had 24 wildfires.  There is currently one active fire in the area that has been turned over to the landowner to extinguish.

We have 11 crews on hand to action any new wildfires.

Thanks for doing your part to prevent wildfires.
