Cooler temperatures and diminished winds have dropped the wildfire hazard to MODERATE for the area.  The wildfire hazard for grassy areas remains HIGH.

Generally cooler temperatures for the weekend, increased humidity, and calmer winds have dropped the hazard.  Still, a hazard remains for dry, grassy areas.  Be careful in the forest area this weekend if you are working or recreating in grassy areas.  Grass build up on quads is common at this time of year.  Grass build up can heat, smoulder, and fall to the ground behind your quad, creating a wildfire in your path.  Stop often, clear debris and make sure your trails are there for you when you come back.

We had no new fires today.  So far this season there have been 29 fires in the area.  Four fires remain under control.  Other fires have been extinguished or turned over to landowners to extinguish.

We have seven crews and one helicopter currently at work in the area.

You next hazard update will be issued on Thursday, May 8 or when the hazard returns to HIGH.
