WILDFIRE UPDATE | OCTOBER 1, 2021

There are three wildfires in the High Level Forest Area, all of which are classified as Under Control (UC). Since March 1st there have been 84 wildfires in the High Level Forest Area burning a total of 2,942 hectares.

PROVINCIAL UPDATE

Since March 1 there have been 1,225 wildfires in the FPA, burning a total of 52,897 hectares. For more information on the current wildfire situation across the province of Alberta, visit wildfirestatus.alberta.ca

FIRE PERMITS

From March 1st until October 31st, fire permits are required for any burning, excluding campfires, in the Forest Protection Area of Alberta. To request your free fire permit, call the High Level Forest Area permit line at 780-926-5407. Leave a message with your home location, burn location, what you plan to burn and our patrolmen will get back to you. 

Be aware of your permit conditions and when it is and isn't appropriate to burn. During wildfire season, fire permits may be suspended or cancelled, depending on the wildfire danger. WildfireApp_v2_1200x628

SAFE CAMPFIRE

If you're having a campfire in the Forest Protection of Area, make sure it's fully extinguished when you are done. Soak it, stir it, and soak it again until the ashes are cool to the touch. Never leave a campfire unattended!
