SAFE BURNING PRACTICES ARE ALWAYS IN SEASON
The 2019 wildfire season in Alberta officially ends today. Fire permits are no longer required for burning, however you are still responsible for any fires you light throughout the fall and winter months.
Best practice for burning debris is to burn clean piles. By doing so, the piles burn faster and in result can help lessen smoke impacts to your community. Also remember to spread out the debris to help extinguish it. Proper signage is also needed along roadways when burning debris and can be located by contacting La Prairie Group or Mackenzie County.
A fire left smouldering can burn underground all winter long and cause a wildfire in the spring. Firefighters urge you to go back and check your winter burns to ensure they are extinguished. Before conducting your winter burning review Brush Piles and Windrows Safe Burning Practices.
